Welcome from the Principal
I am exceptionally proud to be the Principal of the City of Peterborough Academy which is sponsored by the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust (GDFT).
At CoPA we have a clear vision for the future. We are determined that our youngsters are able to achieve well and leave us as confident, compassionate and articulate individuals with the skills to support them through the rest of their lives. Through high standards in teaching and pastoral care we expect to prepare our pupils well for entrance to higher education, high quality employment and the future careers of their choice.
We have fostered a caring, supportive and happy environment which will encourage our youngsters to flourish. In terms of behaviour, uniform and academy standards we are very traditional and have high expectations. We expect pupils to wear the full Academy uniform correctly, attend well, behave respectfully to others and to work hard.
We also believe that education is more than just academic success and aim to develop the whole person with a broad, balanced curriculum, a wide range of extra-curricular activities which we encourage all pupils to take part in, as well a wide range of events during the year.
From the academic year 2013 we have benefitted from new and refurbished buildings that have provided us with new and exciting learning environments and have enhanced the quality of teaching and learning.
Working together, and with support from the GDFT, CoPA was judged as outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in April 2015.
If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
I look forward to welcoming you to the City of Peterborough Academy.
Mrs A Emmerson
