Period Products

Free Period Products at City of Peterborough Academy

City of Peterborough Academy is proud to be part of the Department for Education’s Period Product Scheme for Schools and Colleges, a national initiative designed to help end period poverty and ensure that no student misses out on their education because of their period.

This scheme, funded by the DfE, provides free period products to all pupils who need them, whether they’ve forgotten, cannot afford them, or have come on their period unexpectedly. Products available include:

  • Sanitary towels
  • Tampons
  • Period knickers
  • Menstrual cups (available upon request)

These products are available in:

  • Year Offices
  • PE Office
  • Medical Room

The scheme is part of a wider government mission to break down barriers to opportunity, promote dignity and equality in learning environments, and tackle the stigma associated with menstruation. It is available to all state-maintained schools and DfE-funded 16–19 education organisations across England.

To support this initiative, we have a trained Period Ambassador, Miss Hilliard, who is available to help students with any questions or concerns about period products. She also has a sample box of different items so students can explore what works best for them.

We encourage all students to make use of this scheme, it’s here to support your wellbeing and ensure that having a period is never a barrier to learning.
