Remote Learning Guidance
At the City of Peterborough Academy we are committed to ensuring your child receives a quality education in line with DFE guidance during this time of school closure. The Government have set out their expectations and requirements for what schools need to provide in terms of educational provision and pastoral/welfare support.
In terms of the expectation for our Academy, the guidance states:
The remote education provided should be equivalent in length to the core teaching pupils would receive in school and will include both recorded or live direct teaching time, and time for pupils to complete tasks and assignments independently. The amount of remote education provided should be, as a minimum: Key Stages 3 and 4: 5 hours a day.
Remote Learning at the City of Peterborough Academy
In line with the DFE guidance, we are offering remote education using the platform Microsoft Teams. Pupils should follow their normal ‘in school’ timetable. Pupils are expected to check their Teams calendar for meeting requests and 'join' lessons at the start time. In line with DFE guidance, we expect that remote education (including remote teaching and independent work) will take pupils broadly five hours each day. There is a blended learning approach to our remote learning offer including a combination of live lessons and independent study. Your child should follow their normal school timetable during the day. The timings of the lessons can be seen below. You will notice lessons are scheduled for one hour. However, to allow for breaks from screen time, lessons will last for 45 minutes.
